Testimonials

Our log book started in 1992 and guests and family love reading the entries our visitors make to it, detailing the walks they have been on, outings, wildlife spotted, games played, the weather (!) and days to remember.

“Woweeee! What an amazing place to stay – we found Coogarth completely by accident when we were walking past a couple of months ago and were fortunate enough to find a free week!  We’ve had a brilliant week!  We will definitely be back!”

“Coogarth is so peaceful and restful. All the beautiful views, fresh air and tranquility make you never want to leave.”

“Coogarth has become a kind of grounding for me, a place apart, which I return to from time to time, like a sensible old and wise friend.”

“Have had an amazing week here. We do not need to describe the scenery as anyone who has stayed here knows how incredible it is! Paradise on earth. The cottage is lovely and comfortable and being able to light a fire makes it even more cosy at night. Everything is supplied that you could possibly need and we have found it the best we have stayed in (and we have stayed in many cottages in the Lake District).”

“Aww. So relaxed and ready to take on more of life's craziness after staying at Coogarth. Feeling replenished.”

“At first an escape, then a sanctuary – this is a special place, in totally sympathy with the Dale around it.”

“To stay at Coogarth is to step back in time, a world of the 1920s and 30s where the pace of life is peaceful and slow and there is time and space to appreciate nature and the beauty surrounding us.”

“This beautifully and sensitively refurbished house boasts all the comforts of modern living in an unpretentious way in keeping with its era.”

“To stay at Coogarth is a Lakeland delight and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is wonderful and wraps you up like a warm blanket!”

“We are all feeling energetic and rejuvenated – relaxing and plenty of walking in the fresh air. Coogarth is so peaceful. Nice to hear the baaing of sheep instead of town noise and cars!”

“This is such an idyllic spot from which to explore the hills and the view from the bedroom window is so uplifting. Coogarth is so special.”

“Our last evening in Coogarth with its quiet gentleness and sense of times past.  I am so glad the Locket family are willing to share their family home with others.”
