About Coogarth
Coogarth is traditionally and comfortably furnished with radiators in each room and blackout curtains in all the bedrooms.
Rooms:
- 1 double bedroom (1 king-size bed - sleeps 2) at the front of the house offering an exquisite view to the beck and down the dale. There is hanging space and plenty of drawers are provided.
- 1 single bedroom (1 single bed - sleeps 1) also at the front of the house with wonderful view to Beda Fell. Hanging space and plenty of drawers are provided.
- 1 twin bedroom (2 single beds - sleeps 2) at the rear of the house with views to both the garden one side and Hallin Fell to the other. This room also benefits from a basin, large wardrobe and plenty of drawers.
- 1 "nursery" room (sleeps 1) where we can supply a "z-bed" (which is ideal for child) or travel cot (for a baby). Alternatively, use this room to store your suitcases so they are out of the way!
- Bathroom: spacious with a powerful Aqua Lisa shower, bath, toilet, basin, and a shaver socket. Perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of walking!
- Kitchen: includes a kettle, Neff oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and plenty of storage. There is a larder with a fridge freezer and cleaning supplies. Guests are welcome to use all the utensils and equipment.
- Dining room: a charming room, once the main kitchen of the house, with large table for dining or arts & crafts! Plenty of chairs. Washing machine, cutlery, crockery and many original features. Views to Hallin Fell and the occasional sheep passing by the window!
- Sitting room: a cosy space with a fireplace, sofa, and comfy chairs. There is a DVD player, a cupboard of DVDs, and a bookshelf with family favourites.
- Hall: ample space for coats and boots – ideal after a day outdoors!

More useful information:
- Telephone: there is a telephone box only 100 yards away from Coogarth, but none within the house
- Mobile phones: mobile reception is not available at Coogarth, however, if you walk for 5-10 minutes or drive 2 minutes up the road to the church and you will get reception looking towards Ullswater. A fine spot to make calls!
- Television: there is no reception for this, however, we do provide a DVD player and plenty of DVDs to watch
- Coal and Logs: these are available in Pooley Bridge or Penrith
- Shops: the nearest shop for basic items is in Pooley Bridge or the camp sites along the Ullswater Road. There are plenty of supermarkets in Penrith and internet deliveries are fine to arrange to Coogarth
- Train station: nearest is Penrith, on the west coast mainline from Euston
- Parking: available for two cars directly outside gate, with further space available near-by in the Dale
- Maps: maps are available for reference at Coogarth, however, you may want to purchase your own before going away. The map you will need for walking is: Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure 5 The English Lakes - North Eastern Area. 1:25 000
- Guest log: you will find this in the sitting room. Please make any additions to this as it makes a nice read!
- Instruction books: all instructions for the appliances at Coogarth are in red box files in the dining room, but if there are any queries, please always contact Sophie.
- For your safety: we regularly test the electrics, fire system and have the chimney swept. There are smoke alarms in each room and fire extinguishers and fire blankets are provided.
- Postbox: within walking distance
- Dogs: well behaved dogs are welcome at Coogarth for an extra charge.
